Variables in Icemaking

"...Sometimes demanding
curlers don't understand
these factors."
There are several variables that determine the quality of your ice. The experience and dedication of the ice maker is only one of these. Most ice makers, whether paid or unpaid, work hard and know their responsibilities. One variable is the building and whether the club has the equipment required to make good ice.

The actual equipment that is necessary depends on another set of variables - climate, the level of usage, ice heaving, the curling stones, and the maintenance schedule.

Sometimes a club does not have the cash flow to purchase the best equipment. Sometimes the ice maker needs time to get the most out of a new piece of equipment the club could afford to purchase. Sometimes the maintenance schedule is simply too tight. Sometimes the building... Sometimes the curling stones... Sometimes an ice maker simply can't make really good ice.

And sometimes demanding curlers don't understand these factors. A critical responsibility of the ice maker is communication with the club and club members concerning these issues and variables that affect the ice quality.

Thanks for dropping by and I look forward to hearing from you!
