Communicating with Curlers
You should try to educate your curlers at every opportunity, stressing how every curler is responsible for the quality of the ice, and how a great running surface can only come about if members and ice maintenance staff are a team. Many rocks have lost their path because a patch of ice has been melted by a hand or an arm rested for too long on the ice surface. Keep your brush clean. Replace it when necessary. Clean shoes are a must. Protect the hacks from runaway rocks. Curlers: Work on these points yourself, and remind other curlers (politely!) to work at these points too, and your ice maker will love you! Thanks for dropping by and I look forward to hearing from you! Doug Wright |
